Pregnancy Depression

Not long ago certain healthcare professionals thought that women couldn’t suffer from pregnancy depression because of certain hormones that are active during pregnancy.  Hormones which increase during pregnancy were thought to have the power to protect pregnant women from mood swings during their 9 month carrying period.  New research shows that Since the levels of hormones increase at such a high rate during pregnancy it actually triggered depression.

20% of pregnant women develop some type of pregnancy depression during the time of labor, and another 10 % may develop very serious cases of pregnancy depression that might actually require special treatment.
